
6 Lawmakers of the Plateau State House of Assembly have been suspended over what has been described as gross misconduct, insubordination and promoting disunity among the legislators.
Moving the motion for the suspension of the 6 lawmakers during plenary outside the complex, Deputy majority leader of the House, Hon. Philip Dasun said their suspension became necessary following their move to impeach the Speaker, Hon. Nuhu Abok earlier in the day.
The suspended members include, Saleh Yipmong Dengi (APC), Nanlong Daniel Mikang(APC), Yakubu Sanda Pengana (APC), Mohammed Balo Quan Pan South (APC), Eric Dakogoal Quan Pan North (APC) and Baba Hassan (APC) Jos North-North.

Speaking further, he said the House leadership has also passed a vote of Confidence on the Speaker, Abok Nuhu for his leadership qualities which is a clear indication of his acceptability by the Plateau people.
Supporting the motion for the suspension of the lawmakers, the Minority leader, Peter Gyangdeng said the actions of the suspended Lawmakers is an act of illegality and said the House will not tolerate interference by Executive arm of government.
He also supported the vote of confidence passed on the Speaker for his strong leadership qualities and people driven legislative programs which has endeared him to the people of Plateau State.
It would be recalled that 9 out of the 24 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly sat 6a.m Thursday and impeached the embattled speaker, Abok Ayuba and elected Yakubu Sanda as new Speaker.
The action which other lawmakers term as illegal because it went against Section 92(2c) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Order 7 rule 14 of Standing Orders of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
