Plateau State Government has directed security agencies in the state to destroy any House found harbouring kidnappers as supported by the state anti kidnapping law.
The Plateau State Governor, Barr. Simon Lalong was speaking at the inauguration of a Police outpost built by member representing Bokkos constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Amurudu Usaini in Richa, Bokkos local government area of the state.
He said if a landlord harbours a kidnapper, the house should be pulled down and if the kidnapper is charged and found guilty, the penalty is death sentence.
Lalong who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Prof. Danladi Atu, said the government had also directed all the local government councils in the state to launch a security program code named “Operation know your Neighbour” to ensure security of lives and properties.
“The concept of operation know your neighbour is that, when a strange person comes to you or to your community, ask him who are you? If he tells you ask him again what are you doing for a living? and if you suspect the person, report him to the police” Lalong said.
Lalong commended the lawmaker for building the police outpost, saying it is in line with his administration’s fight against crime and criminality and appreciated all security agencies including the vigilante for their selfless service in insuring peace in the state.
The lawmaker also donated a two line radio “walkie talkie” to the Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp, Neighborhood Security Watch and the Vigilante Group to assist in their communication needs.
The Divisional Police Officer of Bokkos, DPO Maxwell Adamu aka “No sorry” who spoke on behalf of other sister agencies, thanked the member for the gesture and assured him of their commitment to securing the area and the state at large.
Governor Lalong alongside Speaker of the Plateau State House Assembly and other stakeholders also commissioned many other projects by the member across the 20 electoral wards in the local government.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda who was represented by the Deputy Majority Leader and member representing Kanke constituency, Barr. Wallok Goma praised his colleague for touching the lives of his people and transforming his constituency with such projects.
Also speaking, the Bokkos local government council Chairman, Mr. Joseph Guluwa described Amurudu Usaini as a transformer and said if he can accomplish such projects in three years, he can do more with the support and cooperation of his constituency.
The lawmaker commissioned 30 projects across the 20 wards of Bokkos local government area in the phase one of the commissioning which includes Police Outpost, Clinics, Schools, Hand pump boreholes, Culverts, Transformer and a convenience facility in Bokkos town market.
Some colleagues of the lawmaker and some critical stakeholders of Bokkos who witnessed the commissioning of the projects applauded the member and prayed God to reward him richly.
