The Plateau State government under the leadership of Barrister Caleb Mutfwang has tasked all political appointees of his administration to be prepared to deliver good governance in their various offices.
The governor gave the charge at the end of a 6day Retreat and Onboarding of the Executive Arm of Government, which was organized by the Plateau State Government for Exco Members, Permanent Secretaries and political appointees at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru in Jos South local government area of Plateau State.
Represented by the State Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, the governor said his administration is geared towards service delivery hence, they should be ready to deliver the dividend of democracy to Plateau State citizens.
“If you are sure you will not be able to board this Ship under the Captain of the Ship, his Excellency, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang. If you are not going to be onboard this Ship to sail across to the promise land and to deliver to the people of Plateau State, then you better opt out now when it’s still early,” said the deputy governor.
In a communique at the end of the retreat and onboarding of the Executive Arm of government, the participants came up with Nine resolutions.
The communique, which was read by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Architect Samuel Jatau had as it’s resolutions to, “Embrace the Government’s Vision and Mission encapsulated in the Three (3) Priorities with Ten (10) Thematic and Twenty-Eight (28) Sub-thematic Areas and collectively, collaboratively and assiduously work towards building a united Plateau in line with the goals and objectives of: “The Time is Now” Mantra;
“Improve funding to meet the goals of the State by exploring alternative sources of funding, reducing the cost of governance and improving revenue generation for effective Project funding;
“Foster good governance through the adoption and implementation of people-oriented policies, blocking loopholes, reducing wastages and adopting cost-effective, transparent and accountable processes as well as embracing e-governance;
“Practice inclusivity and mainstream gender in all policies and programs of Government;
“Rise above the years of socio-economic, political and security struggles, build on the legacies of its founding fathers and attain a clear identity, freedom and preserve its heritage;
“Cascade the training to other officials of Government/Civil Servants to ensure a holistic comprehension of ‘The TIME is NOW’ Mantra;
“Enforce the ban on the collection of illegal taxes and mounting of illegal roadblocks;
“Settle down to the business of giving good governance to the people of Plateau State, “The Time is Now” to begin to prepare for life after Office; and
“Practice sound lifestyles that birth productivity and effectiveness in both the workplace and private lives”.
The 6 day retreat had in attendance the Executive Governor of the State, Barr Caleb Manasseh Muftwang, the Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, all Honourable Commissioners, Head of Boards, Agencies, Commissions, Parastatals and the State Political Party.
Resource Persons and Facilitators at the event were said to have been drawn from various fields of human endeavour who addressed, inspired and challenged the participants to develop the right mindsets, attitudes and work as a team for the collective good of the state and its citizens.
