Plateau to complete 53 road projects

Gov. Simon Lalong

Central Nigeria: The Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong says he is determined to complete the ongoing construction of 53 road projects in the State.

This, Lalong said, Friday, is part of his “Rescue” Administration’s commitment to improve the transportation infrastructure of the State.

28 of the ongoing road projects were inherited from the previous governments, while 25 roads and bridges were awarded by his administration, the Governor said while commissioning 80 units of Ford Galaxy vehicles jointly procured for business by the State and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Plateau State Council in Jos.

The State in his words has also continued the filling of potholes in “critical roads” within the State capital to give relief to motorists and residents.

The State Government has also intervened in constructing some Federal Roads within the State, according to Lalong, because of their economic importance to citizens.

While hoping for the reimbursement of the funds used for the Federal road projects, the State, Lalong said has applied for the Dualization and Construction of some Federal Roads within the State.

The roads include Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Road; Taraba State Border-Shendam-Namu-Nasarawa State Border Road; Panyam-Bokkos-Nasarawa State Border Road; Lantang-Wase-Bashar-Taraba State Border Road; and Jos-Jengre-Kaduna-State Border Road
