The Plateau State Internal Revenue Service has denied a media source, Mr. Shehu Ibrahim, identified as its staff.
Mr. Shehu was quoted in an online news report, commenting on an alleged murder of a truck driver by a Police Officer near Jos.
But a press statement by the Revenue body’s spokesperson, Mr. Wulashik Daf’an, Monday says the source was not its staff and his comments do not reflect the body’s views.
“We wish to state categorically that the said Shehu Ibrahim is not a staff of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service and does not speak for or represent the Service in his individual or official capacity. That the Service as a Corporate Organization has a standard procedure of granting interviews, issuing press releases, holding press conferences among others to certified media houses that are on retainership with the Service and selected media organizations subject to the various media regulations,” the statement says.
