The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Prince Adewole Adebayo has said for a Christian to be in active politics and still remain a true Christian is a great achievement.
The former Presidential Candidate was speaking at the ongoing 107th General Church Council (GCC), meeting of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN holding in Jos, the headquarters of the Church.
The Kwara State born Lawyer, who turned into a politician said politics is not an easy thing, “but when you go into it as Christian, you must be equipped.
“If you do politics for 10-20 years, don’t count how many offices you have won or how many election victories you have gotten. But assess whether you are still a Christian. Because the ability to remain a true Christian in Politics remains a great achievement.
“Because that is the headquarters of the devil, and when you seal the headquarters of the devil then the kingdom of God is established.
He encouraged the Church to ‘pray, preach and participate’ because according to him. politics is short of God’s people and God’s people must go there and do it. He also advised the Church to be close to the government and interact with politicians in and out of government.
Prince Adewole who was at the meeting to condole with the Church over the numerous attacks and killings that affected members of the Church not only on the Plateau but also in states like Borno, Yobe and other parts of the country.
“I want to sympathize with the Church for being in the center of a battle that is going on in West Africa and in our country. The battles are Physical, Spiritual and Psychological.” He added.
He described COCIN as the ambassador of Nigeria, recalling that the name used to be the Church of Christ in Nigeria before becoming Church of Christ in Nations. He noted that the Church standing firm and expanding amidst the attacks shows the presence of Christ in the Church.
Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo, President of the Church who spoke on behalf of the Church appreciated him and his entourage for the visit to sympathize with the Church. He prayed God to favour him in his endeavor.
