“…Appealed for Reinstatement of History in School Curriculum…”
The Gbong Gwom Jos, and Chairman, Plateau State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, Da Jacob Buba, his Nasarawa State counterpart, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bage, and the Aren Eggon, Justice Ubangari, have called for preservation of the divers and rich cultural heritage of Nigeria.
The traditional rulers made the call recently during the commemoration of this year National Museum Day hosted by the Eggon Nation in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The traditional rulers observed that the rich and divers cultures of the people in Nigeria are gradually fading away in the name of civilization.
They also appealed to government to reinstate history in School curriculum if not, the nation is gradually losing its roots, and they fear for the next generation.
Speaking at the event, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, applauded the Eggon Nation for showcasing one of the rich culture of Nasarawa to the world and assured them of his administration’s support as always.
“Nigeria is blessed with diversity, like it’s rightly said. Nigeria is blessed, but Plateau State, Nasarawa State and Benue State are blessed with very, very rich diversity and culture and we must do everything to ensure that we take care of those ones.” Governor Sule said.
The governor also spoke on the growing insecurity in the zone, saying it is their responsibility as a zone to fight it and that they must fight it.
“We must go and solve our problem by ourselves. Nobody is going to be looking forward to say I’m waiting for federal government to solve my problem. No! Solve your problem by yourself. You know, and that is why we do that.” He added.
The event featured cultural display by the popular Anzalu dancers of the Eggon Nation, traditional dishes and public lecture and display by other tribes
