The Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda led faction of the Plateau State House of Assembly and his eleven loyalists have given five reasons on why they removed the former speaker, Rt. Hon. Abok Ayuba on October 28, 2021.
The reasons according to them include, his refusal to reconvene the House, dictatorial tendencies, gross incompetence, using fake Mace and holding an illegal sitting outside the House and allowing external forces to use him to destabilise the House and the State.
At a press conference yesterday, which was read by the House Majority Leader, Nanlong Daniel, the members affirmed that due process was followed in the impeachment of the former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abok Ayuba as provided in section 92, 2 (C) CFRN 1999 (As amended).
He said that 16 out of the 24 members signed a resolution for the impeachment and added that the clerk of the House is in possession of the names of all members who were in the House on that day.
Worried by statements made by some notable personalities in the country, especially from the opposition party, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, the members called the attention of Senator Jonah Jang, Senator I.D. Gyang, House of Reps member Jos South, Jos East, Hon. Musa Bagos as well as the Lagos State House of Assembly, Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki and many others who had earlier accused them to always cross-check their facts, as their action and comments are misleading and not a true reflection of what transpired on the floor of the house.
They Appealed to the Inspector General of Police to unseal the House to enable them continue with their legislative function, in-view of the numerous bills on ground which require legislative attention, including the 2022 appropriation bill which was laid by the Governor.
