Plateau Speaker Sympathies with Victims of Plateau Rainstorm

Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, has expressed deep sympathy for the people of Shimankar District and other affected communities in Shendam Local Government Area over the devastating rainstorm that wreaked havoc across the area.

The Speaker in his message to victims of the affected localities, through his Press Secretary, Philip Eplong described the incident which destroyed homes, schools, and places of worship as a heavy blow to the affected communities.

He acknowledged the pain, hardship, and emotional trauma being faced by the affected residents, particularly, families who lost their homes and sources of livelihood.

“At a time like this, our thoughts and prayers are with every victim of the storm. We are thankful that no lives were lost, but we also recognized the great suffering this destruction has brought. It is truly heartbreaking.” the Speaker said.

Rt. Hon. Naanlong urged relevant government agencies, humanitarian organizations, and public spirited individuals to swiftly assess the situation and provide the necessary support to help the victims recover and rebuild. He also called on citizens across Plateau State to show solidarity and compassion by reaching out in any way possible .

He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to standing with the people in times of distress, as part of its responsibility to the welfare and wellbeing of all Plateau citizens.

Naanlong who also conveyed his message on behalf of the principal officers, members, and staff of the Plateau State House of Assembly, said the 10th Assembly’s prayers and thoughts are with the affected communities.

The Speaker equally extended his condolence to their colleague, Hon. Joseph Bukar, Member representing Shendam Constituency in the House, over the distressing situation affecting his constituents.
