The Plateau State House of Assembly has received a supplementary budget proposal of ₦74,605,413,000 for the 2025 fiscal year.
The additional budget, supplementing the already approved 2025 appropriation law, was contained in a letter from Governor Caleb Mutfwang, read during plenary by Speaker Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel on Friday.
Governor Mutfwang explained in the letter that the supplementary budget will address urgent state needs arising from internally generated revenue, focusing on expanding critical infrastructure and deepening social cohesion across Plateau State.
Majority Leader Hon. Joseph Gokum moved a motion to suspend Order 13 Rule 2, allowing the bill to proceed immediately. The motion was seconded by Minority Leader Hon. Gabriel Dewan and approved through a voice vote. The supplementary budget bill then passed through its first and second readings.
After extensive deliberations, Speaker Naanlong Daniel committed the bill to the House Committee on Appropriation, directing it to work with other standing committees to scrutinize the document and report back with recommendations.
Additionally, the House considered a motion of urgent public importance regarding a recent windstorm in Foron District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. The House unanimously upheld the motion’s four prayers and directed the Clerk to communicate its resolution to the relevant authorities.
In his closing remarks, Speaker Naanlong Daniel commended members for their commitment and urged them to remain steadfast in advancing Plateau State’s welfare and development.
