No Nation Rises Above Their Leaders’ Character- UK Pastor

Pastor Emmanuel Mbakwe, the President of Apostolic Church, United Kingdom UK and his wife Helen Mbakwe delivered a stirring call for leaders at all levels to embrace social Righteousness as the foundation of governance, justice, and National Development.

Pastor Mbakwe was speaking at an event which was held at the famous Miago Rest Home in Bassa local government area of Plateau state.

Speaking on a topic” Social Righteousness ” with other sub themes, “Dealing with the Cancer called Corruption, Wealth, Poverty and Social Righteousness, Pastor Mbakwe expressed that a society or nation can nerve rise above the character of the leaders, he said when Righteousness prevails, the people rejoice. When Corruption rules, the nation groans.

Taking his text from Luke 10: 25-37, the Cleric equates bad leaders to the thieves on the Jericho road, who shortchange, forge documents, and oppress people, like the Levites who were highly religious but zero compassion. He expressed that as true leaders, they must match their words with action like the good Samaritan who was an agent of change.

Pastor Mbakwe called on the participants to rise above personal ambitions and embrace the higher calling of service in truth, justice and Integrity.

Other resource persons who took turns to talk on different topics, are Prof. Hopkins who took the morning devotions, Barr. Olivia Dazyem on Human Trafficking, Helen Mbakwe on Arise and Model Righteousness.

Earlier in his opening remark, Chairman Board of Directors, Rev. Dr. Sylvester Dachomo read Philippians 1:9-11 prayed that their love for each other be renewed. He added that this years conference is unique because it’s a call for commitment to renewal of self to face the challenges of the nation.

Also welcoming the participants, International Coordinator of Grace and Light Mrs.Tassie Ghata stated that God has been faithful in keeping them and appreciated the participants for coming.

She thanked the Board members, staff for their support and the founder, Prof. Mark Hopkin and his wife Isabel for their tireless efforts every step of the way.

Some participants expressed that the conference is soul touching and Inspiring adding that it has help them to see leadership as mentoring rather than self ambition.

Highlight of the events include a brief send-off prayer for Prof and Mrs. Mark Hopkins, presentation of gifts to Pastor and Mrs. Mbakwe,and the commissioning of the new Grace and Light Center located at the Rukuba Road Dong Kassa.
