The Plateau State Primary Health Care Board has begin awareness campaign ahead of the up coming National Immunization Day plus and Maternal Newborn Child Health (MNCH) week with media engagement to help boost awareness in Plateau State.
Speaking at the meeting, the State Health Educator, Mrs. Rifkatu Dung said the event with media practitioners and U-reporters was aimed at creating more awareness to the public on the upcoming National Immunization Day plus and MSCH on the 6-10 December, 2025.
She said they want the awareness to reach all nooks and crannies of the state to get every child from birth to 59 months vaccinated.
“The awareness is very important because we want caregivers and parents to bring out their children for the vaccination… we want our children to be free from the six killer diseases that are dealing with our children before their fifth birthday. The immunization is very important. It is free. it is cheap and it is very effective.” She added.
The State Health Educator noted that the Immunization help children to grow well with very sound education than the children who are not vaccinated.
She said during the period of the Immunization, service providers will go House to House, market places, motor parks, places of worship and anywhere they see children who have not been vaccinated to do so. The vaccine is for children from 0-59 months.
The vaccine will be for Polio, BCG for Tuberculosis, Measles Rubella, Human Papilloma, Yellow fever among others.
Mrs. Rifkatu Dung called on parents and caregivers to bring out their children for the vaccine and advised pregnant women who need their routine drugs for prevention of Anemia in pregnancy to visit clinics to see service providers.
She called on the media practitioners and the U-reporters to assist by using their media outfits and all social media handles to create the awareness to the public about the vaccine.
