The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has raised serious concerns over the worsening insecurity across Nigeria, describing the continual loss of lives and destruction of property as alarming and unacceptable.
In a communique issued at the end of its 73rd General Church Council (GCC) meeting held in Jos from April 21–24, 2026, the Church lamented the persistent killings and kidnappings reported across all six geopolitical zones of the country.

The communique which was read by the Church President, Rev. Dr. Job Bagat, stressed that the situation reflects growing security challenges and inadequate protection for citizens, especially in vulnerable communities.
The Council therefore, called on all tiers of government to move beyond expressions of concern and take decisive, coordinated, and measurable actions to safeguard lives and property. It also urged citizens, particularly its members, to strengthen community vigilance and cooperation to enhance collective security.
On infrastructure, ECWA expressed deep concern over the deteriorating state of roads nationwide, noting that poor road conditions pose serious risks to lives and hinder economic activities. While acknowledging some government efforts in infrastructural development, the Church called for urgent rehabilitation and sustained maintenance of major road networks across the country to improve safety and boost national productivity.

Beyond national issues, the Council also highlighted major developments within the Church, one of which is the peaceful elections conducted, with Rev. Chidi Madubuko emerging as Vice President-elect, while Rev. (Dr.) Ayuba Asheshe was returned unopposed as General Secretary for a second term.
The Council also approved the creation of three new District Church Councils, which includes Chonge-Pero, Tafawa Balewa, and Kontagora, bringing the total number of DCCs to 100, to enhance administrative efficiency and missionary outreach.
In its push for growth and global relevance, ECWA resolved to restructure its operations to reflect a more international outlook, strengthening its global mission engagement and partnerships.
The Council further endorsed ongoing development at its Garam site near Abuja and called for increased member participation through structured crowdfunding. It also dedicated a newly completed Trustees’ Lodge to improve administrative effectiveness.
Additionally, ECWA announced plans to pilot a centralized salary structure for Church workers beginning in January 2027 to promote fairness and accountability. It also unveiled the rebranding of ECWA Television to Bingham Television to expand its media outreach.
The Council commended Bingham University for its academic progress and reaffirmed support for missionary work, while calling for increased financial contributions to sustain evangelism efforts.
The Church urged its members to remain steadfast in faith, unity, and national responsibility, while praying for peace, good governance, and sustainable development in Nigeria.
