Suddenly Moms Initiative Gives Hope to Teenage Mothers

A Non Government Organisation, known as Suddenly Moms Initiative, SMI, has expressed readiness to help teenage mothers pursue their dreams in life despite their situation.

The founder of the organization Mrs. Anna John Yakubu disclosed this recently during a meeting organized for teenage Mothers in Dogon Dutse, Jos North LGA, Plateau State.

Mrs. Yakubu said SMI is aimed at addressing the challenges faced by teenage mothers most of whom had to drop out of school. The NGO is meant to guide them in the right path and to pave way for a brighter future for them and their children.

According to her the initiative is hinge on 4 main pillars of discipleship, mentorship, empowerment and counselling. She added that the core of the initiative to help the women get back to school and to pursue their dreams.

Mrs. Yakubu further added that the teenage Mothers’ dreams should not come to an end because of the mistake they made in life. She said they will encourage and support them to pick up the pieces of their lives and dare to dream again.

Mrs. Nancy Ajang a guest speaker at the meeting spoke on the topic: ‘Living a Life of Gratitude’ (2 Thessonians 5:16-18). She urged the teenage mothers to always appreciate God in all circumstances.

Some of the participants at the meeting appreciated the Initiative for the encouragement and counselling. They also expressed willingness to continue with their education and engage in small scale businesses that will help them earn a living.
