Dalo Memorial High School Foron has reaffirmed its commitment to providing not only sound education but to also ensure the spiritual well being of students in the institution.
The Principal of the school, Licensed Pastor Pam Andrew gave the affirmation on Saturday as the school baptized 103 students who have accepted Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour. A total of 112 candidates that were Baptist by the school with 9 from LCC Larwin.
According to him the school is poised to promoting sound education, good moral and spiritual wellbeing among the students and encouraged parents to enroll their children in the school. He described the day as a remarkable one and welcomed specially parents of the students for witnessing the event and for their support.
In a sermon shortly before the Baptism, Chaplain of the School, Pastor Thomas Dachung read the Book of Romas 6:1-6 and spoke on the topic, ” Burying the old minds” where he said “today the candidates are burying their old minds for a new life in Christ. “
He reminded them that Baptism is not a direct ticket to heaven hence, they must throw away their old ways of sinful lives and continuously live a life free of sin in order to make heaven. He encouraged them to stand firm in their new lives and let the world be attracted to God by the way they live.
Performing the Baptism rites, the leading pastor of COCIN LCC Larwin, Rev. Lutu Davou reminded the new converts that God has called them at a young age to be instruments in changing the society.
He said the day was significant and full of joy because they have believed, confessed their sin and are being Baptised as required by the scripture. He said it’s through Baptism that people are being accepted into the gathering of believers.
Rev. Davou said Baptism is a sign of believer dying from his sinful nature and rising to a new life in Christ Jesus. “Baptism is a sign of new birth in Christ” he said as he read Mark 1:4.
He encouraged them not to entangle in sin but should always shine the light of God wherever they are.
Chairman of COCIN RCC Fan-Loh, Rev. Danladi Musa Dung who also graced the occasion, commended the principal, chaplain and all staff of the school for leading the students to the new life in Christ. He told the new believers that the day of their new birth in Christ is significant that they should not forget about it.
