Plateau State hitherto known as civil service state is gearing towards becoming a commercial State
This was made known by the State Commissioner for Commerce, Hon. Sule Haruna shortly after defending the ministry’s 2025 budget before the Assembly Standing Committee on Commerce, under the chairmanship of Hon. Abdul Yanga.
He said as Ministry, they focus to turn the state into an industrial hub, where investors will come and invest, there by changing the state which is know as civil service state to a commercial and industrial State.
“We want to see how we can reactivate our moribund industry, especially the Jos main market which used to be a famous market not only in Nigeria but west Africa.
“We are working on the market and we have investors that are ready to come and invest and in no distance time they.
“To add to the Jos main market, we are working towards building an international market in Plateau State, which will take care of north central and north eastern Nigeria.
“Very soon, by the first quarter of next year, we are going to commence work.” The commissioner added.
He said they are working towards bringing back the glory of Plateau State in the area of industrialization.
Chairman of the Committee on Commerce and Industry, Hon. Abdul Yanga of Mangu North, said as Committee they intend to raise the revenue generation of the state through Jos main market and Kabong market and he promised that the committee will visit the markets to see where they can advice the ministry to improve.
He lamented that Kabong market with over 3000 shops and people have not occupied all, and that even those occupied the occupants have not been paying.
