Plateau School Principal appeals to Government to Absorb PTA Teachers to Strengthen Learning

The Principal of Government Secondary School Hwolshe, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State has appealed to the Plateau State Government to absorb the PTA teachers complementing the work of the few permanent teachers in the school.

The Principal, Mrs. Elizabeth Adamu made the appeal at the commissioning of the Examination Hall of the School which was renovated by the former member representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Dachung Bagos.

She said the appeal became necessary, considering the insufficient permanent teachers in the school and the commitment of the PTA Teachers to duty in complementing their work.

“We have insufficient teachers and as a result, the school has a good number of PTA teachers to compliment the areas that we are lacking.

“Some of these PTA staff have been serving for over 20 years
with a meager allowance.

“We plead that the government should consider absorbing them into the Civil Service for their devotion and sacrifice.

“Examples of such are Mr. John Christopher Nyam who has
served for 25 years and Peter Kopla, Peter Goyil, James Ugande and Sunday Ma’ajo who have spent
15 – 20 years.” She said.

On behalf of the management and staff of the School, the Principal extended their heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Bagos for his kind intervention and prayed God to reward him kindly.

The Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang who was represented by his Deputy, Ngo Josephine Piyo, while commending the former Lawmaker for the work, promised to look into the request of the Principal over the issue of the PTA Teachers as she also noticed one of the PTA Teachers she knows for long in the teaching profession.

Disturbed by the the sacrifices of the School PTA Teachers even with the meager allowance, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, RT. Hon. Gabriel Dewan donated one Million, Five hundred thousand to the PTA Teachers for their commitment to service.

The PTA Teachers were full of gratitude to the Speaker for the gift and prayed for him to succeed as they hope that the state government absorb them soon.
