Plateau State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Development will soon embark on a site seeing of all ongoing Housing and Urban road constructions in the state under the “Time is Now” administration.
Hon. Nimchak Abel, member representing Langtang North-North State Constituency and Chairman of the 10th Assembly Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Development, stated this while on a familiarization visit to the ministry on Thursday in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
The Committee Chairman and his members applauded the Commissioner of the ministry, Architect Sylvanus Dongtoe and his management team for what they are doing after the commissioner explained to the committee all the ongoing Housing and Urban road works that are being coordinated by the ministry on paper.
Some of the projects according to the Commissioner have been completed and are awaiting commissioning while others are ongoing and at various stages of completions.
Hon. Nimchak noted that the ministry is pivotal to the administration and their visit was to among other things see the performance of the budget been approved to the ministry, to collaborate and advice were necessary for better performance.
He said visit to the project sites will give them a first hand information on the administration’s efforts in providing dividend of democracy to the state citizens and to report back to the Assembly.
The Committee Chairman was happy particularly with the state government’s intervention through the ministry to give the State Fire Service a conducive working environment and firefighting equipments. He said incidences of fire outbreaks in the state are alarming, but was optimistic that the intervention will help mitigate it and attract more investors into the State.
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Sylvanus Dongtoe, appreciated the Committee for the visit which according to him has given him the opportunity to provide an insight to the Assembly on what they are doing with the massive support from the Governor.
He said as a Commissioner overseeing the ministry he has no reason to fail, because the State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang is always on his neck to ensure not just the completion of the projects but that they are done according to standard.
He mentioned some of the projects to includes, Renovation of Deputy Governor’s Office which is at 60 percent completion, renovation of Plateau State Aid Control Agency, (PLACA) Office at 40 percent completion and awaiting the governor’s approval for the construction of New Office for the Plateau State Fire Service at Bukuru Express Way.
Road network includes, 3.1 kilometers Rakubeleng- Rahwol Gyel- Rahwol Kak road, Bukuru Express – Sabon Barki- CRUDAN road, Rahwol Kak- Trade Center road as well as Mama Iyabo- Namua Junction among others.
