Plateau: Amurudu Declares Comeback Bid For Bokkos Constituency, Pledges Focus on Empowerment.

A former member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Usaini Amurudu, has declared his intention to return to the legislature, with a strong focus on human capital empowerment and development for the people of Bokkos State Constituency.

Amurudu, who represented Bokkos Constituency in the 9th Assembly, made this known during an interview in Jos on Tuesday, where he outlined his vision ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The former lawmaker, contesting under the All Progressives Congress (APC), said his priority in the proposed 11th Assembly would be to strengthen human capital development initiatives alongside his core legislative duties, including sponsoring motions and bills, particularly those addressing the security of lives and property in Bokkos, Plateau State, and Nigeria at large.

Reflecting on his previous tenure, Amurudu expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve, noting that he executed people-oriented projects across all electoral wards based on identified community needs.

He highlighted key interventions during his time in office to include youth and women empowerment programmes, construction and renovation of classroom blocks, building and equipping of science laboratories and examination halls, as well as the distribution of customized textbooks and exercise books to schools.

According to him, his infrastructural contributions also covered the construction and renovation of healthcare facilities, culverts for improved access roads, and the provision of both manual and motorized boreholes. He added that projects commissioned within the constituency also included a police outpost, electricity transformers, and improved telecommunications services in communities that lack mobile network services.

Amurudu further recalled initiatives such as scholarship awards, distribution of grinding and sewing machines, provision of fertilizers and water pumping machines for farmers, and financial support for small-scale businesses and vulnerable individuals.

The former lawmaker also emphasized his efforts in facilitating employment opportunities for constituents, stating that he secured over a hundred appointments while in office and an additional eleven for youths even after leaving office.

“I am not ashamed of lobbying for the benefit of my people,” he said, assuring constituents, especially youths of continued lobbying for job opportunities if re-elected.

With his campaign slogan, “Na Kowa Na Allah,” Amurudu appreciated stakeholders and members of the APC for their support, expressing confidence that they would not regret voting for him as the party’s candidate for the 2027 elections.
