Plateau Lawmaker Commissions Projects, Assures Constituents of More Developments

The member representing Mangu South in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Kwarpo has assured his constituents of more dividends of democracy as he continue to represent them.

Kwarpo gave the assurance while addressing his constituents shortly after re-commissioning of a motorize borehole at Rampia and inspection of an ongoing Solar panel borehole at Layir all in Mangu district of Mangu local government area.

The motorize borehole re-commissioned by the member was a project of one of the sons of the community, a former immigration officer, ACG. Haruna Sa’idu Dawop in 2019, which broke down and his son initiated the process of fixing it before the Lawmaker’s intervention to complete the project by also providing protector an tiling the place to make it more conducive for users and for proper hygiene.

The village head of Rampia, Da Daniel Dawop and the District head of Mangu, Da Moses Dawop all lauded the son of the late immigration officer and the lawmaker for reviving the borehole which is a major source of water to the community and it’s environs.

The traditional leaders urged the people to safeguard the project and encouraged well to do individuals to always remember giving back to their communities in whatever form that will benefit the people.

Speaking on behalf of women of the area, the Mwagavhul Development Association (MDA), women wing leader of Rampia, Mrs. Plangnan Haruna Dawop, expressed gratitude to the initiator of the project and the member for bringing life to the community, quoting the popular adage that says, “Water is Life, and he who give water gives life.”

The borehole was handed over to the Leadership of Mwagavhul Development Association (MDA), the Women and Youth wings of the Association for proper monitoring and maintenance.

Hon. Kwarpo also inspected a solar panel water project initiated by him which is at 95% completion at Layir also in Mangu ahead of commissioning in a month time according to him.

Speaking at the inspection side, the Lawmaker said the project was initiated following an urgent demand of the community and appreciated the person that donated a portion of land for the borehole freely. He appealed to the community to take ownership of the borehole and guard it jealously to serve them well.

The member had earlier join a campaign against the consumption of illicit drugs that was organized by Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), in Mangu local government, where he also lend his voice on the danger of the illicit drugs especially among the youths.

Speaking at the rally, Mangu Field Officer of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, ACN Hassan Kuulyidam cautioned that drug abuse lead to crime and called on the local government council to consider having an office for NDLEA personnel in the area to checkmate the ugly menace in the area.

Hon. Matthew Kwarpo was also at the All Progressives Congress (APC), stakeholders meeting of Mangun Ward, where he presented party flag, membership card to the Councilor representing Mangun Ward who received it on behalf of all the newly defected politicians from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to APC family following the Governor’s defection and directive to all elected and appointees of his administration to join.
