Governor Mutfwang Appeals for Unity among Plateau citizens

The Governor of Plateau State Barr. Caleb Mutfwang has called on the people of the State to turn their diversity into strength.

He made the call yesterday at COCIN Headquarters Compound Church in Jos during the funeral service of a Berom Paramount ruler in Jos North, Gwom Rwei Kabong, Da Justice Adamu Gabriel Sha.

Governor Mutfwang who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Arch. Samuel Jatau said “In view of the challenges confronting us as a State we must turn our diversity into strength.” 

While consoling the family and the traditional council, he also called on the people to celebrate the legacies of the deceased.

Rev. Dr. Sylvester Dachomo the Leading Pastor of COCIN LCC Rayfield who was the Guest Preacher at the funeral service took his Bible reading from John 3:1-8 and spoke on the topic: ‘Have You Embrace the Saviour?’

He called on the people to accept the Lord Jesus Christ and grow therein just like Nicodemus did. “Emulate Nicodemus because some day we will all die and where will you go after death?. Don’t allow your position or wealth to stop you from seeing Jesus. People do not enter the kingdom of God by being good people but by being born again” Rev. Dr. Dachomo said.

While performing the funeral rites, the Chairman RCC Du, Rev. Dawuda Jakawa thanked the Lord for the life of the deceased and called on the wife and Children to take solace in God who is the great comforter.

The Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba in his condolence message said he was humbled by the respect he enjoyed from the late Justice Sha who was his far Senior during their school days in Science school Kuru. He said he enjoyed his wise counsel in the Traditional Council.

He acknowledged that Plateau State is encountering a lot of challenges and that in view of the security challenges no tribe can survive on its own. He appealed for unity among the Plateau tribes adding that the must learn to live together and appreciate one another.

Other condolence messages came from the former Governor of Plateau State, Da Jonah Jang, the President, Plateau State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Blessing Dalyop, the Transition Implementation Chairman, Jos North, Hon. Samuel Dala Umaru among others.

Until his demise late Justice Gabriel Adamu Sha was the Gwom Rwei Kabong and had served in the Plateau state judiciary where he rose to the position of the President, Plateau state Customary Court of Appeal before his retirement.
