Plateau Assembly Spokesman gives free Education, Cash, to IDPs, Constituents

The member representing Mangu South Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly has put smiles in the faces of his constituents, especially the Internally Displaced Persons IDPs in Mangu South.

At the occasion of the closing ceremony of a 6week free Summer Lesson Organised by him for Secondary School Students, the member announced payment of first term school fees for the eighteen outstanding students from all the classes.

The eighteen outstanding students were first, second and third positions from Junior Secondary School JSS 1 to 3 and Senior Secondary School SS1 to 3 after presentation of customized exercise books to all Students that participated.

Most of the students are Internally Displaced Persons IDPs whom according to them learned many things during the summer lesson. 217 students participated, as disclosed by the coordinator of the summer lesson, Mr. Lekwar Caleb in an interview.

Aside the summer lesson, the House member who is the Assembly Standing Committee Chairman on Information and that of Youths and Sports Development, also announced the establishment of a Secondary School named, “Balka Academy Secondary School” Jwakkas to provide tuition free education to the Internally Displaced Persons IDPs Children in the Constituency.

The announcement brought an unprecedented joy to the IDPs whose dream of continuing their studies was revived.

“This is the beginning of a Secondary School that I intend to establish in this community, and the secondary school is going to take care of solely IDPs. I’m going to bring them inn, after giving them admission from JSS 1 to SS1, I will educate them free of charge. They are not going to pay any school fee by the special grace of God.” He emphasized

He said he believes that when he trained most of this IDPs in School, he is sure they will further their studies and come back to impact the society.

Hon. Kwarpo also supported 100 of his constituents mostly the IDPs, less privileged and widows where some of them went home with N10,000 cash each, others received bags of Fertilizers and Grains.

Wife of the Member, Mrs. Juliet Matthew Kwarpo used the occasion to also blessed some petty traders on the street of Mangu with financial support to boost their businesses as part of activities to commemorate her birthday.

Some beneficiaries of the Mangu South legislator’s benevolence, an SS 2 Student, Success Nandom David, said she was able to learn Map reading which before now she was not aware.

Mr. Sham Nanfang who received N10,000 cash and Malama Halima Adamu who got Fertilizer all showered appreciation to the member and prayed God to reward him kindly in all his dealings.
