WHEN TRUTH BECOMES THE ENEMY

By Saadiyya …

Nigeria has entered a dangerous phase where the problem is no longer just insecurity – it is the mindset that protects it.

People are dying. Villages are burning. Kidnappers are thriving. Terrorists are free.

And some Nigerians? They are more upset at a foreigner speaking the truth than at the killers themselves.

“Since this American arrived in Jos, there’s been no peace.” Really? The violence in Jos started yesterday? Alex killed someone? Alex is collecting ransom? Alex is stoning and burning people alive?

No. But some will blame him because it’s easier than admitting the truth.

The same people who ignore killings, bandits and abductions – suddenly find their voice to attack a man who dared defend the people. They call him CIA. They twist his words. Anything to avoid accountability.

To be honest: Alex didn’t lie. He spoke facts. The only line he crossed was saying “Tinubu will regret it.” Wrong. Everything else? Truth.

If Alex caused insecurity in Jos, then who is responsible for Borno, Katsina, Zamfara, Kwara? The countless graves across Nigeria?

This is not outrage. This is complicity. Humanity in Nigeria has been sold for comfort, loyalty, and maybe a plate of soup.

Wake up. Look around. Stop defending narratives and start defending lives.

A society that attacks truth instead of confronting violence is not just broken – it is complicit in its own suffering.
