Plateau State is set to witness a historic political event as the Executive Governor of the state, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, will be formally received into the All Progressives Congress (APC) party.
The event, scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, 2026, will take place at the Polo Field in Jos, and is expected to attract national and local presence of top political leaders, party officials, and a massive crowd of supporters from across Plateau State and beyond.

According to him, the development reflects a growing consensus that governance should transcend partisan boundaries and focus on collaboration, stability, and the delivery of tangible dividends of democracy to the people.
He recalled that Governor Mutfwang formally resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on December 29, 2025, and subsequently aligned with the APC on January 2, 2026, a move widely interpreted as strategic and people-oriented.
The Central Planning Committee noted that the governor’s decision is expected to position Plateau State for increased federal collaboration, accelerated infrastructural development, enhanced security, job creation, and expanded social investments.
Reflecting on Governor Mutfwang’s administration, the committee described his leadership as transparent, humble, consultative, and people-centred, noting that these qualities have earned him respect across political divides.
Given the national importance of the event, Vice President Kashim Shettima, GCON, is expected to formally receive the governor into the APC. Other dignitaries expected include the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. The committee assured residents and visitors of adequate security arrangements, effective traffic control, and crowd-management measures, in anticipation of a large turnout.
The Central Planning Committee confidence that the grand reception would not only be peaceful and successful, but would also mark the beginning of a new chapter of unity, development, and shared prosperity for Plateau State.
